Why PoleMaster?
In comparison with other polar alignment techniques, PoleMaster has the following advantage: 1. Speed and convenience: With PoleMaster you do not need to move the telescope to a specific place just to unblock the polar scope. You do not need to kneel or contort your body to look through the polar scope.
Can PoleMaster be used as a guide camera?
You need to be guiding on a star that is very near your target. Not only that but the camera is only accessible through the Polemaster software. You can’t “connnect” to in in PHD or the SKYX or MaximDL or Backyard EOS or SGP or anythng else. Finally, it’s a 25mm lens, way too short for guiding purposes.
How do you install a PoleMaster?
Step 1: Insert PoleMaster base mount adapter into the front of your mount polar scope. Use a hex screw to tighten the inner screw as shown in the picture. Step 2: Insert the quick install plate into the mount adapter. Step 3: Tighten the thumb screws and make sure the quick install plate is secured.
How accurate is PoleMaster?
QHY claims the PoleMaster can achieve 30 arc second accuracy, but I certainly didn’t expect that on my first try using it. But, sure enough, right out of the box, I was able to achieve an accuracy that gives me nice, round stars, even when imaging near 70 degrees declination.
Can PoleMaster be used as guide scope?
I think we agree that the PoleMaster is not suitable for guiding. The only other tool built into PHD is it’s drift alignment utility. 30″ of DEC drift is hugh…you need to have resolution of fractions of an arc-second to be able to detect a PA of 30″.
How accurate is SharpCap polar alignment?
SharpCap Pro polar alignment is quick, accurate and easy to use. No need for long waits for drift alignment. No poor accuracy due to small errors in GOTO movements. No need to adjust Altitude and Azimuth separately.

Can I use SharpCap with a DSLR?
This can cause problems with cameras that take a long time to transfer the image to the computer, like large CCDs and DSLR cameras – SharpCap may not respond during the image download time and when that is complete a new image will be captured and start the download process again.
Is SharpCap free?
Q: Is SharpCap still free? A: You will still be able to download, install and use most SharpCap functionality for free. A small selection of the more powerful features in SharpCap will require you to buy a SharpCap Pro license if you want to use them.
What is polar alignment of telescope?
Polar alignment is the act of aligning the rotational axis of a telescope’s equatorial mount or a sundial’s gnomon with a celestial pole to parallel Earth’s axis.
What angle should a telescope be?
The telescope tube should be above the mount with the declination setting circle indicating 90 degrees and the counterweight bar pointing down at the ground.
Does an equatorial mount need to be level?
When observing with a telescope is it important that the mount is stable, that it does not wobble or move when you are observing, however it is not necessary for it to be level.
