Where do you put leather coral in a tank?
For most leather corals, the bottom of the tank is a fantastic place. These corals like settling near rocks and far from other coral varieties. Apart from providing enough room, leather corals don’t have many other requirements regarding placement. They will react well to almost any lighting and water flow condition.
Are leather corals Hardy?

From my experience toadstool leathers will grow very large very quickly. I was given a half dead toadstool, within 3 weeks it was in great shape and in less than six months it was about 12 inches in diameter. When i got it, it was only about 3-4 inches in diameter.

Lighting & Flow Requirements: The Toadstool Leather requires moderate water flow and low to moderate lighting (PAR 80-250). T5’s, Metal Halides, or LED’s can all grow Leather Corals when the proper PAR levels are provided. We recommend a 14-20K color spectrum for best coloration.
Can leather corals touch?
Manhattan Reefs It won’t kill it….but the part that’s touching will never look happy, as it’s being irritated. Most leathers are not aggresive enough to take out another coral, although Sinularia can be.
Will leather corals sting each other?
Advanced Reefer. I find that most larger leather corals can irritate other leathers more readily in smaller systems. I have also witnessed in a nano a leather that melted away after being placed to near a finger leather.
