What kind of coffee do you use in a stovetop espresso maker?
While you typically want a fine grind for espresso, the optimum grind for a stovetop espresso maker is actually more of a medium grind. Our Dark Roast Espresso Blend would be the perfect choice. It’s a blend of Central and South American coffees that we hand select to create this coffee.
Can you use regular coffee in a stovetop espresso maker?
You must use coffee that’s specifically roasted for making espresso and is a medium grind. Standard American/Northern European drip coffee (even “espresso blends”) won’t work because they are not ground to the proper consistency and contain too many bitter oils.
Is stovetop espresso strong?
Modern espresso machines brew using 8-10 bars of pressure. That’s 5-10 times the pressure of a moka pot, depending on the machine. Yes, the coffee that moka pots brew is strong and about as close as you can get to espresso without owning an actual espresso machine, but, by definition, it’s not true espresso.
