What order should I do the main Skyrim quests?
I’ve been digging for a while and based on what I’ve found on other forums, the best order seems to be as follows:
- The Companions, Thieves Guild, Daedric, College of Winterhold – in any order,
- the last miscallenous objective in the base game,
- Dark Brotherhood.
- Main Storyline.
- Civil War.
- Dawnguard DLC.
- Dragonborn DLC.
Should I do Dragonborn or main quest first?
Enemies will be more powerful but the Dragonborn will be just as powerful by then. I recommend you to do Dragonborn last if this is your first playthrough. When you will be done with the mainquest and Dawnguard, you will find the Solstheim and the DB questline as a breath of fresh air.
Should I start Dawnguard before main quest?
Re: Which first: Main Quest or Dawnguard? It shouldn’t really matter, regardless of which faction you choose in Dawnguard. (The two questlines meet at certain points, and those points are when you can mention being Dragonborn.) The most you get from are lines of dialogue where your character answers a question or two.
What to do when Skyrim gets boring?
Top 10 Things To Do When You’re Bored in Skyrim
- Explore every location.

- Acquire and upgrade all properties.
- Find the Headless Horseman.
- Become Thane of each hold.
- Commit genocide permanently.
- Obtain all Dragon Priest masks.
- Hunt. Equip your favorite weapon and roam the countryside, mountains and forests.
Can you do Civil War after main quest Skyrim?
Yes. I’ve done this succesfully. The main questline was one of the first questlines that I finished (mainly to get the Dragon Shouts exclusive to it), and the Civil War questline (the Imperial Legion path) was one of the last questlines I finished (because I can’t decide who to support, initially).
Should I do the Dark Brotherhood or Thieves Guild first?
If lurking in the shadows and waiting for the best time to eliminate a target in whatever method that comes to mind sounds fun, the Dark Brotherhood is the guild to seek out first, especially if those rewards sound better. Ultimately, the best guild to join in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is up to the player themselves.
How long is main story Skyrim?
around 33 hours
According to How Long to Beat, the main story campaign of Skyrim takes most people around 33 hours to complete from start to finish.
Should I do Civil War or main quest first?
This quest is known to occasionally break things such as questlines, jarls, guards and even just the war itself. If you have started both the Civil War and the Main Quest, you should finish the Civil War before the peace council quest.
Is it better to join the Stormcloaks or the Imperials?
Pick Imperial if you want to play a character who is originally from a place aside from Skyrim, as it doesn’t make sense to fight under a banner that ultimately won’t accept you. Pick Stormcloak if you believe the Empire has no right to say what Skyrim denizens can and can’t do, especially if you are a Nord.
Can you join every faction in Skyrim?
Also note that you can be a member of all factions simultaneously without any conflict, with the exception being the Imperials and Stormcloaks where you will have to pick a side.
