Is Viair waterproof?
These compressors are moisture & splash resistant, but NOT WATERPROOF. Do not mount compressor in locations where the unit is likely to come in contact with water.
Where is Viair manufactured?
The Viair compressor is squarely made in china.
Can you mount a Viair compressor sideways?
You can mount in any direction or position since VIAIR compressors are oil-less. The only position we do not recommend is an upside-down mount, since heat tends to travel upward, and does not dissipate well in the motor housing.
How do you use Viair 88p?
Attach the heavy duty battery clamps to your vehicle’s battery, and start the engine. Connect to a tire valve stem and turn the unit on. Tire pressure can easily be checked using the gauge incorporated into the top of the unit. – Net Weight: 4.75 lbs.
Can you mount an air compressor upside down?
An upside down compressor can place unexpected stress forces on parts of the machine and cause additional wear. An upside down motor can cause heat dissipation issues, and risk overheating. And even on its side, you’ll find greater piston ring wear.
How do you rotate a Viair compressor?
The best way to determine the proper rotation (direction) of the compressor is to view the directional arrow imprinted on the belt wheel of the compressor pump. The belt wheel is the larger of the two “pulleys” on the compressor and it has curved spokes designed to draw cooling air across the pump as it turns.
Is Viair a good air compressor?
Viair compressors are great, but some models are worthless for RVrs and for those who are unable to get up and down to shut off the compressor during fills just to see if you have the correct pressure.
Can you run a air compressor upside down?
Basically the compressor is designed to dissipate heat out of the head of the compressor. Since heat rises, if it were mounted upside down the heat would just run back into the compressors causing it to overheat quickly.
Can you mount a 12v compressor on its side?
A slight angle wouldn’t worry it but putting it upside down or with the compressor end down might as the heat from the ‘head’ will heat the motor up quicker which may lead to overheating.
Does rotation matter on air compressor?
If the compressor is old enough to have an oil pump, rotation is important. Also, is the pulley cast with an angle to the spokes, like fan blades, designed to blow air over the compressor? As far as the amount of air it will pump, capacity SHOULD be the same in either direction.
What happens if you run an air compressor backwards?
If anything the compressor may be damaged by running wrong direction, it may or may not produce same load for the motor, but the lubrication system within compressor may not function properly if the wrong rotation is applied.
Can you lay an oilless air compressor on its side?
You can lay down an oil-free air compressor – but it’s generally not a good idea to do so. Over time, dirt particles and condensate can form a sort of sludge in the bottom of the storage tank.
