Can I inject Kybella myself?
Kybella should be administered by a healthcare professional. Screen patients for other potential causes of submental convexity/fullness (e.g., thyromegaly and cervical lymphadenopathy).
How do you draw up Kybella?
Have the patient tense the platysma. Pinch the submental fat and, using a 30 gauge (or smaller) 0.5 inch needle, inject 0.2 mL of KYBELLA® into the pre-platysmal fat (see Figure 2) next to each of the marked injection sites by advancing the needle perpendicular to the skin.
Can nurses inject Kybella?

How many vials of Kybella does the average person need?
Most patients will need 2-3 vials of Kybella® per treatment. Each vial is priced at $600. The average woman will need 2 vials per treatment, with most men needing 3 vials per treatment of Kybella®. Again, this will be determined at your consultation.
Can Kybella go wrong?
KYBELLA® can cause serious side effects, including injection site problems such as bruising, hair loss, open sores (ulcers), and damage and tissue cell-death (necrosis) around the injection site or trouble swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw that can temporarily cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness.
Is Kybella good for belly fat?
Kybella contains a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid which is naturally found in our bodies and helps with the breakdown and absorption of fat. Kybella was originally approved by the FDA to treat excess fat in the chin and neck areas and also reduce jowls but it has also been used off-label* to treat abdominal fat.
Can you inject too much Kybella?
It’s important to space Kybella injections apart. Not only does this allow the active ingredient time to target submental fat in the chin, but it also gives your body time to heal in between treatments. If you have too many injections too close together, this could increase your risk of side effects, like swelling.
How many syringes are in a vial of Kybella?
KYBELLA® injection is supplied in a pack of 4 single-patient-use 2-mL vials. KYBELLA® is administered by subcutaneous injections (maximum of 50 injections) into submental fat at approximately 0.2 mL per injection (up to a total of 10 mL), spaced 1 cm apart using a 30-G (or smaller) 0.5-inch needle.
Why is Kybella only for chin?
Kybella is highly specialized in that it is used exclusively to eliminate stubborn fat under the chin. Because this treatment involves breaking down cells, it can’t be used anywhere else on the body – only the fat cells under the chin are isolated enough that the product won’t touch any important surrounding tissues.

How long does Kybella bullfrog last?
The “Bullfrog Effect” won’t last. This lasted for over a week and is completely normal. Ice and ibuprofen helped significantly; most of my swelling has subsided at week 3. Numbing is also a side effect that should be expected: my treatment area was numb immediately after treatment and is still a bit numb at 3 weeks.
