What does the BB in BB-8 stand for?
In an interview from a few months ago J.J. Abrams revealed that he came up with the idea of BB-8’s name himself. He stated that he picked it because of the droid’s round and bouncy look: I named him BB-8 because it was almost onomatopoeia. It was sort of how he looked to me, with the 8, obviously, and then the two B’s.
What does BB-8 look like?
He had a dome head, similar to that of R2 series astromech droids, with the bulk of his body made up of a ball on which the droid’s head rolled. BB-8 was mostly white, with some silver and orange on his body, as well as a black photoreceptor.
Who is better BB-8 or R2-D2?

Like Sphero’s other robotic balls, the BB-8 toy uses a gyroscope to work out which way is up, and accelerometers to determine when it’s moving. Measurements from these sensors are used to make continuous adjustments so that the robot keeps its head.
