What clothes are needed for skiing?
Here’s a quick primer on what to wear skiing or snowboarding:
- Long underwear.
- Light fleece or wool top.
- Ski or snowboard socks.

- Gloves or mittens.
- Helmet.

As a beginner skier, you won’t need to purchase your own skis and boots like I do as it’s much easier to rent. You will, however, need basic skiing essentials like thin layers, pants, helmets, and goggles, and even smaller items that even seasoned skiers might forget like lip balm with SPF and hand warmers.

Over socks, but outside boots. I’ll have to admit that I prefer socks under base layers! In my experience, pulling a sock over a full length base layer cause’s creasing/uneven contact with the skin, and therefore becoming uncomfortable, hence going under.
Can I wear leggings under ski pants?
You Should not wear any other regular pants like jeans, cotton leggings, and other sweat pants because they will store the sweat you build up while skiing or snowboarding which can make you feel a lot colder.
