Can I refill my own gas bottle?
The refilling of rented gas cylinders is illegal and could see you prosecuted for theft; it’s also extremely dangerous. Quite rightly the industry has serious concerns about this practice and wants to stamp it out.
How do you fill a Gasit bottle?
Simply take to the refilling station and fill directly via the bottles fitted fillpoint. No fill hose or remote fillpoint needed. Comes with 2 sperate valves: Fill OPD, and Manual Outlet tap. So, drive up and fill without the need to remove pigtail for filling.
What is a Gaslow system?
Gaslow refillable gas bottles are fitted directly into the motorhome, unlike the gas bottles that are fitted as standard in new motorhomes, such as Calor gas bottles which need to be detached and taken to a supplier and swapped for a full one.
Can I fill a propane bottle at a petrol station?

Whats the difference between LPG and propane?
LP gas and propane are the same thing. LPG – Liquefied Petroleum Gas – is flammable hydrocarbon gas liquefied through pressurisation. Propane is the same as LPG but LPG can include other gases, as well.
Do gas bottles have different fittings?
Both Butane and Propane gas bottles, and different brands (such as Campingaz), all have different fittings for their gas cylinders. You must get the correct fitting. Browse to your chosen gas bottle below to find the right regulator and hose.
Is Gaslow propane or butane?
The Gaslow W20 Changeover Gauge Side 01-1627 is designed for Butane gas only. A Propane gas version in this configuration is also available.
How does Calor Gas Refill work?
When you purchase a gas bottle from us, you also purchase a Cylinder Refill Agreement. This is an agreement between us (Calor) and you (the customer). The cost of a CRA depends on which gas bottle you are buying and which category it sits in. You can exchange your gas bottle for any gas bottle within the same category.
Does LPG gas go off?
As previously mentioned, the LPG-propane gas never goes bad, off or expires. Gas cylinders must be inspected periodically. The timing typically runs from 5 years to 15 years, with 10 years being the most common time period for gas bottle expiry.
Can I use propane instead of LPG?
Yes, both have similar chemical formulae, making them ideal for similar applications. If you live in cold places, consider investing in propane and not LPG, which comprises many hydrocarbon gases. Propane tends to work better than liquefied petroleum gas in cold weather.
Can I turn a gas bottle upside down?
In principle it won’t make any difference, but in practice it sometimes can. Since what you want to emerge from the tank is gas, in principle nothing you do will make more gas come out.
Can I transfer gas from one bottle to another?
To transfer LPG gas from one cylinder to another you use the decanting method. Decanting is the process seen if you have ever watched a service station refill LPG gas cylinder.
How much does a Gaslow system weigh?
The Gaslow 11kg Number 1 cylinder carries approx 21 litres at 80%. Height: 530mm to the top of the filler elbow x 304mm diameter with a weight of approx 12.4kg.
Do I need a gas locker in my campervan?
Yes, you need a gas locker in a campervan, just like in any other motorhome. A gas locker is an additional storage compartment for the gas bottle, which has a vent near the floor. The gas locker is provided with a seal for the construction of the motorhome as it is for safety.
