What is fermacell board?

Can you plaster on fermacell?
As mentioned in a previous post, the main benefits to fermacell is that it does not require a plaster skim coat, and it is strong enough to take fastenings without the need to locate a batten to screw into.
Can you paint directly onto fermacell?
fermacell backer board is the new moisture resistant backer board you can tile, paint or wallpaper directly onto, plus it comes in handy sized 1200mm x 800mm x 12.5mm sheets.
Is fermacell moisture resistant?
Is fermacell waterproof? No – but it is moisture resistant. It can be used in domestic showers or bathrooms.
Is fermacell board breathable?
Breathable product. Render or rainscreen, fermacell has the answer.

What is fermacell made out of?
fermacell® gypsum fibreboard is made by combining recycled gypsum, recycled cellulose fibres from post consumer waste paper and recycled water to form a homogenous mass, which is then formed into a dense sheet material and after curing, cut to board size.
Can you skim over fermacell?
We have a mixture of Fermacell and plasterboard. You can skim over it like plasterboard, which we did for a consistent finish. Yup.

Our Fine Surface Treatment (FST) can also be used to finish the boards; a light skim or face fill with FST and your walls are ready to accept any covering – wallpaper, paint or tile – after just 45 minutes.
