What is a gas grant?
If you’re having difficulty paying your natural gas bill, the Gas Assistance Fund (GAF) may be able to provide you, or someone you know, with a one-time grant for the amount of the gas bill, not to exceed $100.00.
How do I speak to a person at British Gas?
Call 0333 202 9532 to contact customer service. Calling this number will connect you to a British Gas customer service representative that can direct you to the right department. This is a quick way to speak to a customer service representative over the phone. You can also use this number to make a customer complaint.
Can I get a fuel voucher?
If you can’t afford to top up your prepayment meter You might be able to get a fuel voucher. This is a code given to you in a letter or in a text message or email. You can use it to add credit to your gas card or electricity key. If you don’t have one of these, contact your supplier to get one.
How long does a boiler grant take?
From initial contact to the day of installation the whole process could take 2-3 months, depending on the company carrying out the boiler grant installation. As we’ve already said, the grant itself is free.
How long do fuel vouchers take to arrive?
You may need to wait up to 24 hours (Monday to Friday) for a voucher to be issued, and vouchers are not issued on weekends or bank holidays. So if you apply on a Friday, you may need to wait until Monday to receive your voucher. If the Monday is a bank holiday, you would receive it on the next working day.
What happens if my emergency credit runs out?
If you keep running out of credit If you run out of credit you’ll build up extra debt to your supplier, for example you’ll need to pay back any emergency credit you use. You can agree how to pay it back with your supplier.
How long does it take for a heating grant to be approved?
It can take anything from 24 hours to four weeks to arrange your grant survey. A qualified surveyor will need to pop out to your property and as long as everything is in order you’ll be approved for a grant. An installer will then be in touch to make an appointment to fit the boiler.
Who qualifies for free boiler replacement?
The scheme can help many low incomes families who may qualify for a free boiler grant if they meet the qualifying criteria. If you have responsibility for a child under the age of 16 and are in receipt of child tax credits or some other income-related benefits then you may qualify for a free boiler grant.

Who is eligible for fuel voucher?
To be eligible, you must be a working age household that was receiving an award from the Council Tax Reduction scheme between 30 November 2021 and 31 March 2022. If you are eligible for this additional help you should receive a letter giving you a reference number and inviting you to apply.
